Sculpture installed in Hamilton
A dedication is held on Saturday, Oct. 17 for sculptor Eric David Laxman whose work, A Conversation in Six Parts, is installed at Journal Square. New York artist Eric David Laxman's sculpture called "A Conversation in Six Parts" will be a centerpiece in Journal Square in downtown Hamilton.

Nasal H1N1 vaccine administered
The Butler County Health Department is administering the first live, attenuated intranasal (LAIV) H1N1 vaccines, a nasal spray, to health care workers aged 49 and younger at Princeton Pike Church of God on Friday, Oct. 16. The department has received 8,300 doses and expects more to come in the next few weeks.

Students visit classmate with cancer
The entire student body of Fillmore Elementary School, 750 students, took a field trip Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, to the home of fellow student and cancer patient Tyler Rothert to lend their support. The Cincinnati Bengals also sent the "Who Dey" mascot and autographed footballs from Chad Ochocinco, Carson Palmer and Marvin Lewis with messages of support.

West Chester fire station dedicated
West Chester Township's new fire headquarters and fire station 71 was dedicated on Saturday, October 3. The firefighters pushed the engine into the bay, a tradition that recognizes a new fire station being put into service.

Section 8 aid opened for 5,000
Butler County Metropolitan Housing Authority is distributing 5,000 applications for Section 8 vouchers for housing rent assistance on a first-come, first-serve basis on Saturday, October 3 at New Life Vineyard Church in Hamilton, for the first time in five years. Many people were in line the evening before and by 9:15 am on Saturday, 2,100 numbers had already been given out.

'Mid-Life: The Crisis Musical' rehearsal
